I've had a lingering cold (or possibly a sinus infection... it's hard to tell sometimes) this past week or so, and have been feeling gross and headachey and blah, so I've been laying low. There were a lot of things I wanted to talk about, too, but I just didn't feel like sitting at the computer much. I'm better now, though, so hopefully I'll be around more. I have some pics and things I want to share.

I can't believe how fast this year went by! Time always seems to pass quickly, but this year did so at Ludicrous Speed, IMO. Maybe tomorrow I'll finally post about Christmas day and show off the shiny, new "toy" my husband got me (YAY!), but I'm feeling kind of crappy right now. Stomach issues, bleargh. My poor husband is sick, too, with a cold. He had a bad flu last year for both Christmas and New Years, too, but otherwise it's very rare for him to ever get sick.

So, we'll be staying in for the ball-dropping, heh. If any of you guys are going out and about, stay safe and warm, okay? :)

Second: I do want to do holiday cards this year and I do want to have them going out soon, but I still can't decide what these cards should be. I'm thinking I might draw a design and stick it in those pre-made photo cards instead of making my own cards this year, because I don't have much time. I've got one idea for a cute drawing (courtesy of thejunebug), which is a fairly general design that can be viewed as HP-related, but doesn't have to be for those who don't like HP or whatever. But I'd kind of like to try making just one more design, and I can't decide if it should be HP or not, or if so, whether it should general or slashy or whatnot. What do you guys think? Anyone have any ideas? If I go with "general," who or what would be a good subject for that? Should I do a canon scene? I'm tempted to do Snupin, but how many people on my flist would be interested in that?

Anyway, any thoughts would be most appreciated! I know I should do a poll, but I don't think I'm organized enough yet for even that. *g* Once I do decide, though, I'll post a poll and ask for everyone to leave their addresses and stuff.

So I'm officially 29 today. And I'll be turning 29 again next year, and the year after that, and....

Hehehehe, no, it's not that bad. At first it was a little scary to think that next year I'll be 30, especially when people always make a big deal about it as if it's the end of the world. But pffft, 30's nothing -- just the end of another decade, not the world! I won't start worrying until I turn, like, 60 or so. ;)

I'll be going out soon with gooniegel and galvyn for some frappucinos at the new Starbucks nearby, and then I think my husband's taking me out to dinner, so I may not get around to replying to everyone's comments today, but I wanted to say thank you all so much for the sweet birthday wishes and gifties!! *hugs flist* You guys always make me feel so special, and I love you all! ♥ ♥ ♥

I was going through the old family photos with my uncle and my grandma a few weeks ago, and I found a few of my baby/little kid pictures. ETA: The image in my icon is the constellation Scorpius in the Milky Way, taken by the Hubble Telescope. And speaking of space, has anyone been viewing the comet Holmes? You can see it with the naked eye right now, as it's exploding. It's visible in the northern sky (I see it best here at around 9pm) as a faint, blurry, blue spot bigger than the planet Venus, right beside the constellation Perseus, which is to the right of Cassiopeia and Draco if you're looking north. I love the stars -- I can stare up at them all night. *happy sighs*

I'm still a bit dead from that party yesterday (OMG, there were waaaay too many people in our house, and most of them did things to totally piss me off, like smoking in the bathroom, grrrr), so I just wanted to drop in quickly to say:

Oh maaaan, I'm so tired of cleaning and fixing up the house! *whines* We're having a birthday party here tomorrow because it's my husband's and his twin brother's birthdays, and to also celebrate mine, since it's coming up on the 7th, and my cousin Matt's, since his is today. Between our two families and friends, there's going to be about 60 or so people coming over. OMG!!! I am so not a party-person, either. I have a feeling I'm going to spend most of the day tomorrow tying to hide from the crowds. Yes, even from my own family. But not from my friends, because my friends are cool like that. ;)

Mmmm, but we're ordering some yummy Philippino food for tomorrow (as well as some "normal" stuff for those who might be scared of the Phil food, hehe), including a whole roasted pig (lechon), and my mouth is watering already. Sometimes I feel really bad for eating animals, but I know I couldn't live without meat. *sighs*

I have tons more pics I'd like to share here eventually, if anyone's interested in seeing them. We've got so many lovely wildflowers and cool critters roaming our property at this time of year, and I've taken a crapload of nature photos. Snakes, bugs, spiders... all the good stuff! Unfortunately, one of the snakes I took a pic of was dead (but he doesn't look it in the pic -- I'll warn for it if I post it, though), which made me sad. I also saw a beautiful, little dead bird yesterday outside a Linens-n-Things. It had apparently hit the store's windows. Dammit, I wish all storefronts would use dark, tinted glass so birds can see it and know not to fly toward it. Poor birds. :(

Anyway, best get back to the cleaning. Uggggh. *slouches off*

Hello all! Wow, I didn't realize it's been over a month since I last posted. I haven't lost interest in journaling or anything, I guess I was just taking a bit of a break, and didn't feel like I had much to say. I've been trying to keep up with the flist, but I'm behind as usual and haven't been commenting much -- I hope to improve on that! I've been pretty busy lately, too. September through the end of the year is always a crazy, action-packed time for me. Lots of birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and other sorts of celebrations. We've had my uncle's, stepdad's, sister-in-law's, a few friends' and my Grandma's 80th birthdays, as well as my aunt and uncle's 16th, my grandparents' 51st and my and my husband's 7th wedding anniversaries. So yeah, there's been much gathering together and going out to eat lately. It's bad how so many things are centered around food. I need to join a gym! :P

( So, what's new with me? Not a whole lot.... )

Ooh, and I actually watch a TV show now (besides Meerkat Manor and Criss Angel, hehe). Heroes! I'm hooked. Sometimes it can be pretty cheesy, but it's a fun show and it does keep you guessing, which I enjoy. I find most of the main characters fairly likable, too. Except Claire -- I'm sorry, but she's stupid and she annoys me so bad, especially this season.

And one more thing:

I'm making Halloween cards, if anyone wants one! I know it's a bit late, but I figure if I get them sent out this week they should get to everyone in the states on time... hopefully. I've already sent some that have to go overseas, though they still might be late, heh. But yeah, if you want one just drop me a comment here! With many thanks to my good buddy galvyn for helping me (and by "helping me," I mean "doing most of the work") yesterday, I now have a brand new computer up and running! It's a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion with Windows Vista on it (so far I can't see much difference from XP) and a 20" widescreen flat monitor. My old Sony Vaio had the big, bulky type of monitor, and this is sooo much better, especially since I can actually put my drawing tablet up on the desk now instead of on my lap.

Anyway, I'm still feeling kind of weirded out by the whole LJ mess and the move to Insane Journal. I haven't done much with my IJ yet, but eventually I think what I'm going to do is post all my fandom-related stuff at IJ only and maybe just post RL stuff here at LJ (but I'll link back to it at my IJ for those who are mainly on IJ now and want to keep up with that stuff).

Please take my poll, so I can get an idea about how to read both my LJ and IJ flists. I want to know who I still need to friend at IJ, or if there are any of you residing mainly at GJ or JF or whatever now. Secondly, I'm still working on re-sizing all my 200+ Prophecy/Toronto pics and waiting for the lovely gooniegal to give me hers, and then I've got to figure out where best to put them. I'm also going to be rather busy over the weekend it seems, so I probably won't be doing my Big Prophecy Post until next week.

Thirdly, will someone please call me an asshole? Because I deserve it. I very stupidly bought a permamnent LJ account when they came around last time, and now I'm sorely regretting it. I was naive enough to actually believe they'd made up for their mistakes and would be better in future. I wish I could demand my money back. My regular paid account was good until November, so I haven't technically used any of the permanent account $$, right? :P I feel like they tricked us. It seems very convenient that they apologized and everything right before the permanent accounts went up for sale, and now they're back with the same old asshattery, only 100x worse. Nice, LJ. Niiiice.

I have a GJ and an IJ, both 'ebonyserpent.' I'd like to get a JF, too, but it says I need an invite or something. Anyone willing to help me out there? Pretty please? :)

Between the LJ crap, and still reeling from the effects of Deathly Hallows, and that general sort of weird, lingering after-travel fatigue, I'm not feeling so great right now. I'd like to start reading something else now that HP is done -- does anyone have any recommendations? Besides LotR, that is, because I do want to (finally) read that series, just not right now. I have the Series of Unfortunate Events books at home -- did anyone here enjoy them? Or how about Narnia? I've still never read the whole series. Should I?

I guess that's all for now. Just wanted to blather a bit.

ETA 1: I'm not leaving LJ, but I'll try to keep up with Fandom where ever it goes. If I have to keep this damned journal purely for RL bitching, so be it.

I'm back.! Prophecy was a blast, and Toronto was awesome (aside from the disorganized airport). Met a lot of wonderful LJ friends old and new, saw Niagara Falls, tooks lots of pics. Will hopefully have them up soon, but for now I need to sleeeeeeep.
